2007-2021 Toyota Tundra
We've recently added a 2017 Toyota Tundra TRD Off Road to our fleet and I have to admit, I wish I would have done this years ago! The 2007-2021 2nd generation Toyota Tundra is regarded as one of the most reliable (if not THE most reliable) used trucks on the market. Follow along as we get some maintenance items up to date, fix some nit picky things, add some accessories and do some mods.

Buying Tips
If you're shopping for a used Toyota Tundra, we highly recommend purchasing a Carfax if you're buying from an individual. This will provide vehicle history such as:

• Where it was sold new
• Accident history
• Service records (as long as it was serviced somewhere that reports to Carfax)
• How many owners it's had
• And more

One of the biggest struggles we had here in east TN was finding a truck that had not been sold or spent much time in the rust belt. Used car dealers often buy cars through auto auctions and unfortunately in the case here, many are buying trucks from the rust belt areas and shipping them down. They might be nice up top, but underneath, the truck will look like it was parked next to the Titanic. DO NOT BUY THESE TRUCKS, you will regret it later.

We were fortunate to find a truck that was sold in TN and had only traveled further south to Louisiana. Sweet! Nice and rust free.
"Yeah, I kept the oil changed in it."
This is one of the most commonly overlooked service items and the most important. If the Carfax report doesn't show a lot of oil changes, you can confirm this by looking inside the engine. This can be done by peeking in the oil filler with an endoscope or in the case below, we needed to remove the oil filler to gain visual access. Two simple 10mm bolts. Thankfully, this one is spotless inside.
